Antenatal Course

I have been an NCT Antenatal teacher since 2010 and happily teach all over the UK as well as within my own local area.

Based on the South Wiltshire / Dorset / New Forest borders; I am happy to travel to bring my expert, calm and supportive help to your new family.

As an NCT and private Antenatal Teacher and Birth and Postnatal Doula with a special interest in pregnancy, labour and early parenthood, I started my journey after my own hugely successful and supportive NCT class when I was pregnant with my first child. The friendship, network and information was invaluable and with two sons I am still in close touch with those initial friends made over 10 years ago.

Having trained with Nurturing Birth in 2014, I am a fully registered member of Doula UK, the only not-for-profit association of Doulas in the UK.

Testimonials

Happy Parents

“Cally was our antenatal teacher – we got a good’un there! She is so knowledgeable, so personable, and so good at bringing people together. She really helped us to be more informed about our birth choices, presenting all the information and explaining it all so clearly, so that we could go into our birth feeling confident about whatever was to come.

I really had her on my shoulder in the birthing room: the knowledge we learned on the NCT course from Cally, gave us a better understanding of the medical advice, and enabled us to have informed discussions with the midwives about our choices going forward. I really enjoyed each of my three births, and I know that this is in part due to the confidence Cally instilled in us through the antenatal class. “

“My partner and I had heard wonderful things about NCT before we signed up, but honestly Cally exceeded all expectations. We loved every second and came away feeling so much more confident about all things birth and baby related. Couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. Straight talking, engaging and extremely knowledgeable.”

“It’s impossible to do full justice to the role that Cally has played in the births of all three of our daughters just by using words!  In 2017 when we joined seven other couples in a church hall and were introduced to Cally as our NCT Antenatal Course teacher we had no idea what she would come to mean to our family.”

Doula

A Doula (pronouned DOO-luh) offers emotional, practical and signposting support to someone before, during and after childbirth.

I believe in “parenting the parents” – enabling new parents to have the most rewarding & empowered time that they can during pregnancy, birth and the early days as they step into parenthood. Research shows that if a parent is respected, listened to and heard, they are more likely to view their birth and the early days of parenting as a positive experience.

This can have a lasting impact on how the family copes with the changes of parenthood and the mental well being of each family member.
