Birth Doula

SUPPORTING YOUR CHOICES

What to expect

Birth Doula

£1,250.00

As your Birth Doula I do not just attend the birth, but help the labouring woman and her partner make informed decisions in the many weeks leading up to the birth.
My role is empathic, considerate and reassuring. By using my skills, alongside my knowledge, I can help alleviate any anxiety surrounding birth, make your pregnancy less stressful, and the labour and birth  more special for the whole family whether at hospital, birth centre or home.
My supportive presence inspires confidence in the woman’s ability to give birth and helps reduce fear of the unknown. I am always positive and will help you find strategies and with evidence will help you find the right path for you . My commitment to your needs is constant.
When a woman’s deepest emotional needs are met, it can dramatically affect labour. What women need is someone who understands them, someone who ‘speaks their language’ at the most intimate time of their lives. Someone whom they can trust wholeheartedly.
As your Doula, I will not replace the birth partner but free them from feeling totally responsible for the mother’s well being.  I allow the birth partner the freedom to participate as and when they feel able.  I completely respect your relationship and am sensitive to everyone’s needs.

What to expect:

Our first meeting is an opportunity for you to see if I am the right doula for you – to ask yourself ‘do we click?’ – an all important factor when choosing your doula.

  • We will meet during pregnancy at least twice more, usually in your home, to discuss your birth preferences and wishes and to talk through any hopes or fears you may have.
  • You will be able to contact me anytime from booking until 6 weeks after the birth. I will be available to you anytime via telephone, skype and email.
  • I will go ‘on call’ for you and only you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from 38 – 42 weeks of your EDD (estimated due date). If baby decides to arrive outside these dates, I will do everything within my power to be with you.
  • I go with YOUR flow! During labour and birth I will stay in tune with you, your needs and wishes, even if you change your mind. You are able to say anything to me and do whatever your emotions and instincts dictate. You cannot offend, surprise or embarrass me. I will always understand.
  • I will never leave you alone – doulas do not work shifts. This gives your partner the opportunity to have a needed break whilst still providing you with the one-to-one continuum of care you need from someone you both know and trust.

  •  I can offer suggestions on comfort measures such as breathing, relaxation, movement and positioning and help with dads participation in the birth at a level you both feel comfortable with.
  • I will support you in your feeding method of choice. I breastfed my 2 children and have experience of bottle feeding. Once you are successfully feeding and settled, I will leave you.
  • I will come to your home for a 2 hour postnatal visit the following week – and I’ll make the tea! This is our opportunity to discuss your experiences and for you to ask any questions.

I charge £1250 including all costs (e.g. travel, phone calls etc.) for the whole service if you are having your baby with Salisbury Maternity Unit.

Births with other maternity units will incur separate travel and parking costs.
I charge 45p / mile and whatever the parking costs are at the unit.

You are welcome to complete the below inquiry form to arrange a free 30 mins consultation. If you wish to proceed then I will send you a link to make payments.

    Testimonials

    Happy Parents

“Cally was recommended to us by a friend who had previously used her doula services, I had heard of a doula before and loved this concept of being supported by another woman throughout my labour, alongside my husband. We met Cally for a chat and we both loved the idea of Cally supporting us both of us during the labour.

Cally listened to our birth preferences beforehand, she is empathetic and supportive of your preferences, she really has your back and that is exactly who we wanted!””

Cally was hugely supportive and set about equipping us with all the information we needed.  From here, we asked Cally if she’d doula for us.  Following our blissful homebirth Cally was instrumental in ensuring a successful, exclusively breastfed feeding journey, something which was very important to me!

“Cally continues to make herself available to us and takes such an enormous interest in our girls.

For anyone considering a doula, I have described Cally as “as essential as my uterus to my births!”. My husband was initially concerned as to what his role becomes when a doula is present. He has since acknowledged that Cally was hugely complimentary to our team, there to support us both.”
